REVIEW: The Color of Magic

THE COLOR OF MAGIC

Author: Terry Pratchett

Ages: 11/12+ (including all adults)

This is the first book in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, so it does not always tie in perfectly with the other books in the series; some facts change. That may be slightly irritating. It is, naturally, humor-filled. It is slightly inappropriate, but only a tiny bit, and it is ignorable and hardly noticeable. There is a point in the book where the story jumps forward six months, and that is slightly confusing. It refers to adventures and experiences during those six months, which is also a bit confusing and irritating. It feels like these happenings should be included in the book, because some of them seem quite important. There are already hints of Terry Pratchett’s popular idea that fairy tales don’t make sense and are unfair, but they aren’t very obvious.

7.5/10
