SNUFF
Author: Terry Pratchett
Ages: 12+ (adults included)
Snuff does tell stories looking over the shoulders of Samuel Vimes, commander of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, but it mainly takes place in the countryside – without the Watch. It is packed with near-death experiences, mysteries, new perspectives and, of course, laughs.
There are a few violent murders and bodies, but the actual acts of murder are not ‘witnessed’. In Snuff, Commander Vimes struggles with the prejudice against goblins – and with all those little snuffling things in the bushes of the ‘beautiful, peaceful countryside’. It is dramatic and unexpected. Friends are enemies and enemies are allies – and possibly in a relationship with those friends.
