REVIEW: Going Postal

Author: Terry Pratchett

Ages: 12+ (adults included)

Going Postal immediately made my favorites list. It is unexpected and suspenseful. I would say I couldn’t put it down, except I listened to it on Audible. It has some gory and creepy bits, but that makes it even more captivating. There are definitely one or two age-restricted jokes and some mild swearing, but those are almost unavoidable in Terry Pratchett’s books.
Going Postal displays one of Terry Pratchett’s favorite themes, that of the natural stupidity of human nature – we only see what we want to see and we think we know everything.  It takes place in Ankh-Morpork and the Times newspaper is an important aspect. It is, actually, quite similar to The Truth (the development of Ankh-Morpork’s first newspaper). A lot is explained about the Clacks towers and the once-thriving post office of Ankh-Morpork.
